Review what happened before choosing the next improvement to practise.
Build composed delivery
Repeat realistic teaching until decisions become clearer under pressure.
Apply teaching ideas while a lesson develops
Classroom discussion can explain a teaching method, but live practice shows whether you can use it while watching the pupil and the road. Our practical instructor training in Croydon gives you experience of briefing, coaching and responding in real time. You practise choosing concise directions, noticing changes in pupil performance and deciding when to step in. If the original plan no longer suits the pupil, you learn how to adjust the lesson without losing its purpose. Around 20 hours of live work helps you move from knowing what an instructor should do to making those decisions under practical pressure.

Improve timing through observed practice
After each practical session, a focused debrief helps you recall important moments and compare your choices with the outcome. We identify techniques that worked as well as one or two changes that deserve attention. You may need to leave more time after a question, notice risk earlier or give feedback that is easier to act on. Repeated delivery lets you apply that change and judge its effect. Over time, this builds calmer communication and more reliable timing. The same behaviours support lesson planning, teaching strategy and risk management during Part 3.
Frequently asked questions
Why train with people instead of role play alone?
Live practice includes genuine responses, changing understanding and developing road situations. It requires you to listen, observe and adapt at the same time, which is difficult to reproduce fully through discussion alone.
What happens after a practical session?
We debrief the lesson by looking at its goal, key teaching choices, pupil response and management of risk. Feedback then identifies a specific behaviour to retain or improve during your next practice.
Does practical training support Part 3?
Yes. Live delivery develops the planning, teaching and risk-management behaviours considered during Part 3. It also gives you real examples to reflect on rather than relying only on imagined situations.
